Paul Wilson vocal tracks manipulated in after noon.He came in to sing another two lead vox for his album in the evening.
Yet again vocal comping duties tues afternoon for paul,s tracks ,and he came in to sing the final two titles at night. We are getting there!
With the motherwell game in the evening papped the studio and and massaged 3 clients at the treatment room in edinburgh.2-1 victory[albeit rather ugly win] earned the boys at hearts 5 days aff!!! yihpee!!!
thurs met up with pals Dave paton and Bob heatlie for an old punchdrunk studioowners talk-in at the Tusitala roadhouse.Lots of hot air being talked about modern computer recording v the old ways! mainly by moi!!!
Fri saw ed and i having a little breathing space in the studio to experiment with various mastering techniques
and fine tuning or vocal manipulating skills! a very useful and constructive exercise!
Sat was invited to the opening of Bob Heatie,s son ,s personal training gym down opposite meadowbank retail centre.Very impressive indeed with the latest hi-tech machines and on site advice from the man himself MICHAEL[ ta ra] HEATLIE personal trainer to Gwen Stefani.Alex Arthur who Mike had previously trained cut the opening ribbon and Mike gave a the longest speech since the Ghettesburg Address.By jove that boy can talk !
I sincerely hope the venture has the success it deserves as a lot of money and hard work has gone into it!

it all starts again on Mon. looking forward to a relaxing sun

see you next week.
Another week ot contrasting recording/mixing-who cares keep it coming folks!
paul wilson back in to complete his album he started last year
again he was well organised and had his music beds off to a tee!
ed worked on the tracks with him utilising some interesting plug-ins to embelish pauls parts!
I for my sins hogged the other computer and ploughed through the pdf for the autotune 5 manual
and discovered some interesting tricks you can achieve with it!
Worked on dave davis,s organ album-concentrating on his glen millar selection.
The tea dance crowd are gonna love this album !!
Wedensday saw us at the mastering stage on Dave,s album which is sounding good .
my mum and dad are going to love it!as a lot of the tracks they would have danced to
when they were courting!!
Ed got on with Paul,s basic tracks getting them ready for Paul singing on thurs.
Final mastering of Dave Davis,s album completed.he has got shot of his huge Technics organ
and acquired an even bigger Lowrey organ and youv,e guessed it!-he wants to record an other album
on this beast!!!
Paul was up on thurs evening to sing two of the tracks for his album. I for my part could not help a small
titter whilst directing Paul on how to phrase a line in the song Dangerous -which included the lyric----
FISHY MINGE. eat your heart out Bernie Taupin.!!!
Fri saw prof David Purdie and Cammy Goodall up to discuss the ongoing RBT Burns project.
it looks like Aileen Carr has recovered from her voice probs so it,s full steam ahead to finish the audio cd
with narration from David and a few of the best known poem,s from Cammy!
Completed the week comping Paul,s vocals from thurs night he is in again on Mon afternoon to do another couple of songs.
Sat evening -Ed did the lights for Crystle flame events at the middleton hall across the road from the studio
which was very busy apparently .a really good venue and it,s available for hire!!

on another note the jambo,s crept into a 5 point 3rd place spot in the league thanks to winning fairly ugly
on sat against dundee utd at tannadice!!! ya beauty- If they win on wed against motherwell --5 days aff!
and can concentrate on studio workl! mabye even a little creativity! as Chic Murray said--YOU NEVER KNOW!!

[BEWARE OF THE IDES OF MARCH]-see you next week !

MON-top and tailed the organ tracks for dave davies with a little bit of judicious cutting and pasting to tidy up one or too pieces.his Winnifrid Atwell medely and his pasa doble failed the old grey valentine test and due to more than a few les dawson moments- will have to be replayed at the next session!! still he did not bad achieving 8 out of 10 tracks straight off, down at the maitlandfield hotel last week.more to come this week!
For the rest of the day ed and i concentrated on achieving a segue of the 3 tracks matt and mel davidson had recorded last week.this proved a bit more difficult than we thought due to the nature of the tracks ie nae bass drum ect to cut on so a bit of cross fading came into play.we will post the segue on the site soon and you can make up your own mind.ed and i think it gives a pretty good idea of what they can come up with- bearing in mind they were only in the studio for 2 hours!! Checkout our clients page at www.heartbeatstudio.co.uk to hear the finished segue.

TUES-worked on some in -house tracks and discovering more wonderful uses for the many plug ins we have acquired.finding we are spending a lot more time" working in the box" our 40track hard disk system is getting very grumpy and will probably spit the dummy next time we go to use it!

WED-a well earned day aff-whoopee!!!

THURS-cd for cammy goodall of his wonderful Burns poems with a view to using one or two on the ongoing Burns project we started last year.eillen carr soon coming in with her musicians to do the songs burns specifically wrote with a female vocalist in mind!
alan rae dropped in with a recording of his good friend Big bad Bruce Beveridge which he had recorded in the house unaccompanied .he has asked if we can supply some accompaniment to the songs and bawdy sonets
to which ed and i replied -we is musicians nae magicians!!! only joking Al.will see what can be achieved next week .but probably better if Bruciey baby swans in and we dig up some b/tracks for him.Anyway ed and i had a good laugh at some of his renditions of well known songs with his self made dubious lyrics.!

FRI-ed did his mobile rcordings to your door down at the Maitlandfield Hotel in haddington to capture Dave Davies again on his Technics organ .this time he played a selection of Glen Millar toons 12 in all. and one hour later he was out the door!job competed!!!! .many thanks again to our good pal bob heatlie for the kind loan of his wonderful zoom digital recorder which works a treat for in the field recordings!

that,s another week gone all that,s left is sat HEARTS V ST MIRREN---come on the jambos let's stay in 3rd position at least for another week!!!

see you next week peeps

last week we saw a very interesting mix of clients.
mon-leon desended on us like a whirlwind to record b/vox guides for hisgirl singers in zimbabwe.and screetched like a cat for an hour but i suppose it gets the idea across!! he also did a jingle for the rev jennifer in his church.and to complete a very hectic day he did a selection of jingles for radio zimbabwe which is the station he dj,s for.phew!!!
tues-we did an outside recording down at the maitlandfield hotel in haddington of dave davies on the magnificent technics organ situated there.a bit of nostalgia for us yins old enough to remember the toons he played.!we are returning on fri this week to complete the job.wot a nice chap he was and im sure he will shift a good few albums at his gigs! spent the afternoon working on a song big jim merrilees had recieved from a very nice lady from america called Kaley.we were very pleased how it turned out and utilised quite a few of the new vst instruments we have acquired-ie the ivory grand and virtual acoustic gtr which impressed even cynical moi!
wed-was very interesting as a young duo matthew and melissa came in and blew us away with there fine singing. we recorded three tracks the prayer/autumn leaves/broken vows.which was achieved in 2hours! not bad as they had only come to see the studio and for a chat !!!
thurs-worked on matthew and melissa,s tracks.they are sounding good.gave them something away to listen to.but fine tuning still to be done.big jim was in to finalise his version of nowhere man for some competition he,s in and we recieved a very nice e.mail from kaley in the states thanking us for our work on her beautiful song ROSALINA which big jim sang no bad tae!
fri-saw a very petite potential pop star ELLIE in with her mom and dad to sing three tracks for her very own cd.!she was very well rehearsed and we put down hero/mama mia/sound of the underground.not bad going for someone just turned 10years old.very nice people as well!
what a week-lets see what this week brings .will update you next weeks peeps
cheers for now Dave & Ed

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to this blog. We will update the blog each week, hopefully, if we remember. This week has started very well, as we have agreed to buy a new PC for the studio, a Carillion, the beauty with a Carillion is they are 100% set-up for music production. There is alot of pre-installed software on it which will keep our clients happy and inspire them even more.

This week we have to finish a track for Big Jim Merrilees called "Unfinished Letter" and hopefully Moray will be in to continue has tribute album to Frank Sinatra. At the weekend we have a session recording some Robert Burns songs.
